As the University of Nairobi students prepare to head to the polls for the University of Nairobi Students’ Association (UNSA) elections all eyes were on Daphine Githuku who was expected to unveil her team.
Miss Githuku, a top contender for the UNSA Chairperson’s seat on Tuesday evening ended the speculation by unveiling a team of six members she referred to as her executive nominees with which she hopes to clinch the top seat.
The list included Samuel Mdoe for theVice Chair’s position and Prince Leshore for the powerful Secretary General’s position in the Union. Daphine picked Yvonne Atieno for the Finance docket,Biko Bikosa for the Sports and Welfare docket and Fridah Nyongesa to head the Special Interests docket. Mariphosa Mariphosa was picked as the Int.L rep in a lineup that has been received with mixed reactions.
The list of nominees christened by Miss Githuku as the “Face of the Union” features students from across Kenya and the various schools that make up the University of Nairobi in what pundits believe is a strategy to get support from allover the university.
Other candidates for the top position include Apiyo JF Apiyo and Antony Manyara who are yet to unveil their teams for the elections that are slated early April
