Former Laikipia University Students’ Union President Rose Gakuo has ditched the national broadcaster KBC for K24.
Miss Gakuo made history by becoming the first woman to ever had a Public University Student’s Union in 2013.
She was equally instrumental in the formation of the Kenya University Students’ Organisation (KUSO), the umbrella organization for universities associations.
At KUSO, she was the Deputy Chair deputizing SONU’s Babu Owino.
Ms Gakuo made her firs appearance on TV in 2015 during KTN’s The Presenter reality show where she was among the finalists.
Graduated with First Class Honors from Laikipia University
The Media and Communications graduate from Laikipia University started out at Kenya’s national broadcaster where here two-year stint came to a close in September 2015.
She graduated from Laikipia University with First Class Honors, a clear testimony of beauty with brains, in November 2015.
Ms Gakuo made her debut on K24 TV on October 8 as the station’s senior news anchor.
She admitted that it was a tough journey juggling books and politics.
“I made sure I struck a balance between leadership and books to ensure I do not mess up my studies.
“Craziest moments came when students came calling at the wee hours of the night asking for an ambulance to rush a colleague to hospital.
“As a leader, I would often accompany them to the hospital” she said in a past interview.
