2019 #CampusBattleKE Champions bowed out of the 2020 race at the round of 32 stage as the knockout stage turned into a private vs public university affair.
The #CampusBattleKE is an annual Twitter competition that aims at highlighting the digital strength of Kenyan universities. The Twitter competition was launched in 2019 to identify the university with the most active Twitter users.
Egerton university was able to overcome stiff competition from Kenyatta University at the finals to be crowned the 2019 champions.
While Kenyatta University has managed to book itself a spot in the knockout round of the 2020 #CampusBattleKE, Egerton university could not overcome the stiff competition from KCA University and the University of Nairobi to make it out of the round of 32.
As the Knockout stage starts on 16th September, 2020, it is turning out to be a private v public university affair as 16 universities across Kenya battle it out for a spot in the quarter finals.
Moi University will be squaring it out against the Cooperative University in the first knockout tie while Pwani University will be facing Amref International University.
Strathmore University and the Technical University of Mombasa will face-off in the other knockout tie while 2019 finalists Kenyatta University will be competing against Zetech University for a spot in the 2020 quarter finals.
Other knockout ties will see the University of Nairobi face Kabarak University; KCA University square it out with Machakos University; and Multimedia University face Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
The final knockout tie will pit Aga Khan University against Laikipia University.
