Meet Purity Evelyn, the 19 year medic in search of Miss Agriculture crown

  1. Tell us about yourself

My name is Purity Evelyn, a year one in Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. I recently turned 19 years old. I am currently in a relationship.

  1. When did you discover your modelling talent?

I recently discovered I had a talent in modelling this year; however, I have always been curious about being on the runway from a very young age.

  1. Why do you want to become Miss Agriculture 2019?

I would like to be Miss Agriculture this year so as to be able to sensitize people about taking better care of the environment.

  1. Is there anything you have learnt from the outgoing Miss Agriculture?

I have learnt from the outgoing Miss Agriculture that with the title comes great responsibility which I am ready to shoulder.

  1. Who do you look up to and why?

I look up to Margaret Kenyatta. She is one of the most humble people I know in a position of power. In addition to that she takes the initiative to help other ladies in the beyond zero campaign.

  1. If you were crowned as Miss Agriculture, what are you going to do differently?

If crowned, I would campaign for more people to venture into the agriculture business since so many people are starving in our country yet so much land is available for agricultural use. Moreover, I would also urge people to take up the culture of using the bins and avoid littering at the expense of our ecosystem.

  1. If crowned, what are you going to do to market this institution?

I would make sure to acknowledge Egerton University in whatever endeavours I would be partaking in at the time since, Egerton would have played a major role in raising me up to the position I will be in.

  1. Why do you think you are the most qualified to be Miss Agriculture 2019?

I am quite passionate in modelling and I trust I have the skill. Furthermore, I am quite sensitive in matters concerning the environment and agriculture. I know that if I get the title, I would be able to do a little more to help.

  1. Where do you see yourself in the next 1 year? 3 years?

In the next one year, I would still be studying, however, if I get the crown, it would open the door for me to help out more in ways that I may not be able to right now. In the next three years, I see myself buried deep in studies, but I would still try as much as possible to help out the community in any way I can.

  1. What message do you have for your fellow competitors?

What I can tell my colleagues is that they should jot be afraid to start out in something new. The biggest regret one can have in life is looking back and realizing that all along they had been letting fear rule them. Furthermore, they should also be able to champion a course like taking care of our environment without letting anybody or any stereotype put them down.

  1. What message do you have for anyone looking to venture into Modelling?

Modelling is not such a complex business so let them not be afraid. The first step is always the hardest, after that, things always even out.
