MKU Student Crowned Miss Tourism Samburu County

Samburu County held their county edition of Miss Tourism 2018 on Saturday 22nd September 2018 in a competition that attracted the beauties within the county. The judging panel had a rough time deciding on the beauty with a brain that could carry the day but when all was said and done, it was Mt Kenya University’s Joyce Lewarani who carried the crown home.

We had a word with the 20-year old second year student of Supplies and Procurement Management at Mt Kenya University, Nakuru campus. Here are her plans for the great county of Samburu.

The Campus Lady Magazine (TCLM): How did you discover your passion for fashion and modelling?

Joyce Lewarani (JL): I got my first motivation in 2016 by Selengei Leparkeras the 2nd Miss Tourism Kenya, Samburu County. I started developing some interest in modeling which led me in inquiring more about modeling. Finally my passion and that interest got into me fully after we had some talks with Selengei.

This led me to contest for Miss Tourism for the first time in 2016 June and I managed to be the 1st runners up. It made me to have a dream and hopes of becoming Miss Tourism Kenya and I think still dreaming of winning my destiny.

TCLM: Congratulations. How has your experience been since 2016 in the industry?

JL: Am still getting more inspirations from those who are above me though mostly there are more competition and sometimes you feel you might not make it.

What keeps me going is the dreams am chasing and make me never think who are my competitors. What is important is to keep my dreams alive and knowing my destiny. Challenges are there but still God is making me move on.
