Kenyatta University was on Friday morning closed indefinitely after a night of students riots that left the university’s old administration block up in smoke.
Students at the university went on strike on Thursday evening following a dispute during the students’ election at the institution.
According to a memo signed by the university’s Vice-Chancellor Prof. Paul Wainaina, the school had been closed indefinitely following the students’ riots that he attributed to the ongoing nationwide lecturers’ strike.
All students were ordered to vacate the university’s premisesbyFriday 9:00 am
The university had on Thursday indefinitely rescheduled an end of semester examination that was set to start on Monday due to the ongoing lecturers’ strike.
The University’s VC had said that the institution would communicate the new dates for the exams as soon as possible but with the latest developments, it is still unclear how soon that will be.
