Reasons why Rongo University Strike over Sharon Otieno’s death yielded no results

Rongo university students took to the streets over the week to protest against the brutal murder of their colleague Sharon Otieno together with her unborn child.

However, the demonstration yielded close to nothing except for the disrupted transport system in the area.

A Comrade, Austin James Senior explains why the strike by the comrades was not as effective as envisioned.

1.Striking in the village insted of knowing the right place to hit.

The university students were striking mainly in the main campus which is situated in the village of Kitere. They were blocking the feeder roads which are used by motorbike members instead of blocking the main road going to Migori from Rongo and Rongo to Homabay.

2. Charging of ground.

No strike can be successful without charging comrades. Buy lunch for comrades and breakfast and give them the hidden water to drink then let the ground work.

3. No mobilization.

The chairman of Rongo University College never mobilized comrades to turn out in large numbers to protest over the murder of a fellow comrade.

4. Lack of demand to hear from the accused.

Instead of demanding for clear information from the accused, they were demanding to hear from their VC who could not make any chance apart from we want speedy investigation.

5. Lack of consultation.

The chairman of Rongo University Students’ association never consulted the gods of strikes who are located in the university of Nairobi school of strikes, tension and control management college. gods of strike must be pleased by carrying water, one stone on your left pocket and handkerchief on your right pocket
