Love does not choose and when it comes your way, visit your boyfriend’s parents is always in the mix. Simple can also be classy in fashion and simple but classy fashion is your best bet for visiting your in-laws.
Before you know the kind of parents your boyfriend has, you can’t visit them in your usual campus fashion that has several unfinished tights, spaghetti tops, too much makeup and acrylics. Most parents prefer a conservative look.
So, is your campus boyfriend asking you to accompany him home this Christmas? Worry not, because I got you covered. Here are some simple looks that you can rock at your in-laws and still remain very classy.
Minimal Make-up and Neutral Nails
You do not want to go to your in-laws looking all-dolled up and wake up the next morning looking totally different. Additionally, you do not want your soon-to-be mother-in-law wondering how you eat with your nails!
Therefore, when it comes to makeup, you’ll never go wrong with a dab of concealer, rosy cheeks, mascara, and a berry lip. As for your nails, always remember that no polish is better than chipped polish.
Go for Heels, but remember to pack some flats as well
With regards to heels, make sure they are one plain color, simple and high. Whether it’s high boots or high heels because high shoes make you taller, more confident, and look classier.
However, you might not be able to walk around the compound in heels for too long. Therefore, pack some simple flat shoes that you can change into. This will demonstrate your versatility when it comes to fashion. It will help you adjust faster to life in the countryside.
Fit is Key
Classy and sophisticated clothing is typically tailored and form-fitting. This clothing is not too tight but you can show off that figure. Skirts should hit just above or below the knee, as should your dresses.
Classic trousers are straight, slightly wide, faintly bootcut, or menswear- inspired and should be ½-inch off the floor in the back.
Wide-leg pants and skinny pants in classic fabrics are also acceptable, as are ankle pants. Blazers, blouses, and sweaters should follow the curve of your waist.
Short weave and a Headscarf
Weaves have an annoying habit of flaking and and finding itself in food and everything else. I can’t imagine would-be father-in-law having to remove a piece of weave from his food!
Therefore, select a short weave and where a headscarf every time you find yourself in the Kitchen.
I hope you have a lovely time at your in-laws and that you end up with a happy ever after with their son.
