Easter festivities are all here and we are all in the mood to attend the Easter Sunday mass and have fun while at it!
However, have you ever asked yourself why Easter is so special? Indeed this can be something most people celebrate but do not know the meaning of this special holiday in the Christian calendar.
According to Ken Trivette, since the year 325, Easter has been observed on the first Sunday after the full moon following the vernal equinox (the time when the sun crosses the equator).
Therefore, this holiday always falls between March 22nd and April 25th. Early Christians observed the holiday on the 14th day of Nisan (April) regardless of what day of the week it fell on.
But, regardless of when it is observed, this period is and will always be a special season for every believer. Comrades also have a moment to reflect.
This is special because this is the day of the resurrection of Jesus Christ as written in the New testament of the christian Bible.
It displays a loving Christ.
This is shown by how Christ was crucified to die for our sins and how he resurrected. Only one with unconditional love could do that. This holiday accords us a moment to reflect back on the love that God had for us. The love that made Him sent His only begotten son to die for our sins and redeem us.
Easter defends a Living Christ.
Yes, Christ lives. And this also shows the Biblical promise of resurrection and also, there is historical proof that Jesus is alive. The story of the death and resurrection of Jesus fills us with hope. Hope for a better tomorrow in and together with Christ.
Celebrate Easter with happiness and humility, spread love and peace, and teach others the art of sharing.
Happy Easter to you all comrades!!
